Overview of Dynamic Scheduling
Dynamic Scheduling uses Start Dates, End Dates, Durations and Predecessors to provide a forward moving schedule. Unlike Static Scheduling systems, the Projects will move forward with time if there is no activity. To accomplish this, we built the following rules into the system.
A Start Date with a Duration is set for each Task. The Start Date and the End Date will continue to move forward until the Task is started. Once a Task is started the End Date will hold constant until the Duration period has eclipsed. The End Date will then continue to move forward in time until the Task is marked completed.
By providing Predecessors and Durations for each Task, the entire Project will continue to move forward until the gating Task is completed. A project manager can adjust the Dates, Durations and Predecessors based on the requirements of a particular project.
Adjusting Dates and Durations
Step 1, open the SITES tab (1) and choose the Site being modified (2).
Step 2, Choose the Task to adjust (1). Note: if the Task is a Parent Task, the Dates are adjusted at the Child Task level.
Step 3, Click on the Date Estimates Tab (1). Click the green Adjust Date Estimate button (2).
Step 4, the Current Date Estimates and Durations are on the screen as a reference (1). Adjust the Date and Duration Estimates as necessary (2, 3,4). The system requires two of the three fields to be updated and calculates the third.
Adding/Adusting Predecessors
The system will not allow a Parent Task to be a Predecessor of a Child Task, or allow a Parent Task to have a Predecessor Task.
Step 1, Open the Sites Tab (1) choose the Site to adjust (2).
Step 2, Choose the Task to adjust (1). Note: if the Task is a Parent Task, the Predecessors are adjusted at the Child Task level. Tasks can have as many Predecessors as necessary.
Step 3, Open the Predecessors section (1). Click on the green Add Predecessors Task button (2).
Step 4, Pick the Predecessor Task (1) Save and Close (2).
Remember, all of this information can be added or changed at any time.
